Women in construction only make up 1.25% of females in the workforce which is currently at 47%. Although it is the year 2022, gender bias remains in the construction industry culture.
Skilled trade jobs in the marine industry are in high demand throughout the U.S. Alan Biliti, Marine Division Sales and Recruiting Manager for LEAD Marine, a nationwide staffing company says, “We place employees in trade positions like electricians, pipe and structure welders, riggers, ship mechanics, and more.”
Americans have been exiting the workforce in droves. The Great Resignation is a trending term and gaining traction as we near the second quarter of 2022. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, a total of 11.5 million workers quit their jobs within three months (April-June 2021).
Skilled trade jobs are making a big comeback. More and more workers are looking to the skilled trades for a secure, high wage career for their future. From graduating high school students to workers looking for a career change, the skilled trades are a viable option that offer affordable and fast training.
The U.S. workforce is steadily recovering from significant job loss due to the pandemic; however skilled trade jobs are proving hard to fill with some taking longer than average to fill and others remaining unfilled.
The number one top-of-mind thought when someone learns you are a temporary trade worker is that you can’t hold down a job or find permanent employment. Unfortunately, this is the stereotype of a temporary worker. However not true of most professional and licensed skilled trades workers.
Nearly 2,000 employees in Washington state lost their jobs as the October 18, 2021, state-mandated COVID-19 vaccination requirement passed.
Companies are struggling to find skilled trade workers to fill high demand, vacant trade positions. As the year end is near, construction, industrial and manufacturing jobs continue to thrive. With this comes the need to fill these jobs with skilled trade workers.
