LEAD Marine & LEAD Celebrates National Safety Month — Encourages trades people in all fields to Take the SafeAtWork Pledge

LEAD Marine will join the National Safety Council (NFC) in observing National Safety Month during June. According to the NFC, in 2021, work-related medically consulted injuries totaled 4.26 million and preventable workplace deaths totaled 4,472. Alan Biliti, LEAD Marine San Diego, Marine Division Account Manager, agrees with the NFC that workplace fatalities are unacceptable, and safety is everyone’s responsibility.

“Reducing risk, identifying hazards and providing a safe work environment with PPE and tools and training is priority for LEAD Marine,” says Alan who is encouraging skilled workers to take the NFC’s SafeAtWork Pledge. Workers can take the pledge below to show their commitment to safety, from the workplace to anyplace.

I pledge to:

  • Actively help my employer improve our safety programs
  • Report hazards promptly and suggest solutions
  • Be a good safety role model for my friends and family, even off the job

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) 2020* data, the top four causes of injury and illness in the workplace are:

  • Exposure to harmful substances or environments (36.1%) – extreme temperatures or noise, radiation, electricity, contagious or infectious diseases (COVID-19), oxygen deficiency
  • Overexertion, bodily reaction (21.7%) – repetitive motion, heavy lifting, excessive physical effort
  • Falls, slips, trips (18%) – falls due to collapsing structures, through surfaces, off ladders or roofs; slips and trips over objects, substances, materials, etc.
  • Contact with objects/equipment (16.7%) – body, or body part being struck, crushed, squeezed, compressed by equipment, objects, collapsing structure

LEAD Marine San Diego fills high level positions in the industrial and Marine industries with fully safety-trained skilled workers in positions for marine electricians, pipe welders, ship fitters and mechanics, riggers, specialty and structure welders, and more. Alan says, “Our reputation for providing quality, safety-trained, conscientious workers is significant to our growth in placing trade workers in key positions in maritime locations throughout the U.S.”

Safety for workers is always top-of-mind at LEAD Marine. “We were excited to mark the beginning of National Safety Month with a Safety Award luncheon held on June 7, 2023. The luncheon celebration was co-hosted with American Equity Underwriters (AEU) and key LEAD Marine employees were recognized for their efforts to promote and keep employees and the workplace safe,” says Alan. LEAD Marine is a proud recipient of AEU’s 2022 Safety Award. Since 2007, AEU has annually recognized the ALMA members with the most effective safety programs.
