National Tradesmen Day – September 15, 2023

National Tradesmen Day, celebrated on the third Friday in September, is a day to recognize the professionals who maintain the complex infrastructure of our roads, cities, water systems, and power grids, according to the National Day calendar. “The skilled trades are a major economic influence,” says Jason Stephens, Managing Partner at skilled trade staffing company, LEAD Tampa Bay. He credits Irwin Tools as the founder of National Tradesmen Day which was established in 2011. “The day honors both men and women who have used their talented skills to help build America–past and present,” says Jason.

LEAD Tampa Bay consistently recognizes its skilled worker employees, and specific days set aside, nationally, to honor employees’ work promotes the significance of the trade industries. “We celebrate America’s history of great men and women who have made a significant impact on society. Men, like Henry Ford who began his career as an apprentice machinist before making a name for himself in the automobile industry; and women, like Ellen Warren Roebling known as the ‘woman who saved the Brooklyn Bridge’ and made history by becoming the first female field engineer,” says Jason.

Our nation operates because of tradesmen (and women) who build and maintain skills unique to their trade, keeping businesses, communities, homes and industry running. Their skills and knowledge provide roads and waterways for transportation, commercial buildings and residential homes, maintenance and evolution of machinery and manufacturing, and so much more.

Jason encourages you to join LEAD Tampa Bay to celebrate the people you know in skilled trades – one of the fastest growing job sectors today.
