We are seeking Shipfitter to become part of our team!

Your responsibilities will include:

Accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine the layout, dimensions and placement of structural components on the ship.
Cut, shape and form steel plates and structural shapes using cutting torches, grinders and other metalworking tools.
Precisely measure and mark locations on the ship’s hull and interior to ensure proper alignment and fit components.
Position, align and tack weld metal components together to build sub assemblies and install them on the ship.
Perform welding operations to join metal parts, often requiring proficiency in various welding techniques and processes.
Utilize measuring tools like levels, squares and plumb bobs to ensure accurate alignment and positioning of components.

Requirements for this role include:

Candidates must have at least 4 years of machinist experience.
Must have knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items for the position and trade.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic geometry.
Proficient in various welding techniques and processes and in different positions.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
