Job Purpose:

The Roller Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy rolling equipment used in construction sites, such as roads, highways, and building foundations. They are skilled professionals who ensure the safe and efficient operation of the roller equipment to achieve high-quality results in the construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain heavy rolling equipment, such as asphalt rollers, soil compactors, and other types of rollers, according to the project requirements and specifications.

• Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on the roller equipment to ensure its safe and efficient functioning.

• Use hand signals and radio communication to coordinate with other construction workers to ensure a smooth and safe operation.

• Adjust and manipulate controls to regulate the speed and direction of the roller equipment.

• Operate the roller equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve high-quality results in the construction process.

• Inspect and maintain the condition of the roller equipment, report any malfunctions or defects to the supervisor, and perform basic repairs as needed.

• Follow safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on the construction site.

• Keep track of the materials used and the work progress, and report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the roller equipment, tools, and materials.

• Train and mentor new roller operators on the safe and efficient operation of the equipment.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in operating and maintaining heavy rolling equipment.

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

• Knowledge of basic construction techniques and procedures.

• Familiarity with different types of rollers and their functions.

• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.

• Strong hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity.

• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.

• Basic knowledge of mechanics and ability to perform basic repairs.

• Safety-conscious and adherence to safety regulations and procedures.

Working Conditions:

The Roller Operator will primarily work on construction sites, which can be loud, dusty, and exposed to different weather conditions. They will be required to stand, walk, and operate heavy equipment for long periods, and may also need to lift and carry heavy materials. The job may involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the project's schedule.
